Today is Day 3 of my 30-day detox protocol using sauna therapy and high-dose niacin, following the protocol outlined at getdetoxinated.com. This protocol was originally developed decades ago and later repurposed and refined, bringing renewed attention to a structured approach to detoxification that focuses on mobilizing and eliminating stored toxins from the body.

I first learned about this work through interviews and educational content shared by Dan Route, whose father helped reintroduce and preserve this protocol. Something about the interview struck a deep chord in me. I bought the book, explored the website, joined the Facebook group, and spent weeks simply listening, reading, and absorbing. The more I learned, the more fascinating and relevant it became.
 

 
Why Detox, and Why Now?
 
As a holistic health practitioner, I believe the best place to start any detox is mineral balancing. I’ve been doing this work personally for over 3½ years, supporting my body with proper minerals, binders, hydration, and nervous system regulation. That foundation matters. Detox without preparation can backfire, but detoxwith preparation can be incredibly supportive.

This protocol isn’t something I jumped into impulsively. I’ve been mentally preparing for months, listening to my body, watching patterns in my HTMA results, and ensuring my detox pathways are well supported.

A Personal “Why”
 
My motivation is deeply personal.

My father has dementia. And because of the work I do, I know that memory loss is not a normal or inevitable part of aging—despite what many still believe. If you want to explore this further, I highly recommend Dr. Dale Bredesen‘s work, including The End of Alzheimer’s.

One of the many contributors to cognitive decline is toxic element overload. When we finally tested my father, he had extremely high mercury levels in his blood, urine, and hair. We also discovered mold toxicity. While I believe all disease is a combination of emotional, physical, and chemical stress, we cannot ignore the role that toxic burden plays, especially when it comes to brain health.
There is growing evidence that cognitive decline can be slowed, or, in some cases, improved, when addressed early and comprehensively. Unfortunately, many people ignore early symptoms out of denial or embarrassment until options become limited.
 

 
Why This Protocol Matters to Me
 
I know I carry mercury in my body; it consistently shows up on my hair tests. I also had amalgam fillings improperly removed about 15 years ago, which can release mercury into my system.

This protocol is not about fear.
It’s about prevention.

With consistent HTMA testing, proper mineral support, and targeted protocols over the years, my body has already been set up for natural detoxification. This 30-day sauna + niacin protocol is simply taking that work to the next level.

For me, this journey is about awareness, preparation, and choice.
