It’s been about two weeks since I completed my 30-day sauna + niacin detox using the Get Detoxinated protocol, and I want to share an honest update.
Because what I discovered on Day 25 humbled me in the best way possible.
The Imperative Detail I Got Wrong
Despite weeks of preparation and due diligence, I realized I had been mixing two forms of Vitamin B3:
- Nicotinamide
- Nicotinic Acid
And for this protocol, that difference is everything.
The correct form is Nicotinic Acid.
Why? Because Nicotinic Acid produces what’s called the rebound lipolysis effect approximately three hours after ingestion. This is when stored fats release toxic elements at an accelerated rate, which is the entire mechanism behind the protocol.
That is precisely why the instructions are to:
- Take the niacin
- Wait 3 hours
- Enter the sauna
The detox surge begins somewhere around a 500 mg dose and builds toward your personalized target dose (based on body weight), increasing gradually over the protocol. Day 1 starts at 500 mg.
Nicotinamide does not create that rebound lipolysis response.
When I realized this on Day 25, I was honestly stunned. Embarrassed. Frustrated. I do protocols for a living. I teach precision. And yet, I missed this imperative detail.
So instead of quitting, I extended my protocol to 33 days, switching fully to the correct Nicotinic Acid form.
Did I Still Benefit?
Absolutely.
Even with the mix-up, I experienced:
- Improved clarity
- Skin changes
- Greater awareness of my body’s stress patterns
- Deep discipline and commitment
- Powerful detox responses
However, because I mixed forms as I titrated upward, I know I did not receive the full intended rebound lipolysis benefit during the higher-dose phase.
And that matters.
The Bigger Lesson
What could have spiraled into shame became something much more valuable:
A reminder that even practitioners are human.
A reminder that even practitioners are human.
I shook off the embarrassment and chose to see it as:
- A learning experience
- A story I can share with integrity
- A way to guide my clients even more precisely
Perfection isn’t the goal. Integrity is.
Where I Am Now
I am incredibly proud of the discipline it took to complete this commitment.
Disease ultimately comes down to two major factors:
- Nutritional deficiencies
- Toxic element overload
Preventive health is my passion. I want vitality. I want longevity. I want to be fully present for my family and my clients.
Currently, I am:
- Continuing daily sauna sessions
- Taking no more than 500 mg of Nicotinic Acid
- Entering the sauna during the flush
This is a modified approach. By keeping the dose at 500 mg or less, it does not trigger rebound lipolysis, but it still supports circulation, detox pathways, and metabolic flexibility.
What’s Next
I will repeat the full protocol correctly in the Spring.
And I’ll step into it armed with:
- Better precision
- Greater humility
- Even deeper respect for the process
If you’re curious about this protocol and whether it’s worth considering, I encourage you to review the details at Get Detoxinated.
And as always, I’m happy to discuss your personal situation and help you determine if it aligns with your goals.
Growth isn’t about getting everything perfect.
It’s about committing, learning, adjusting, and continuing forward with courage
